This huge surface of concrete,
wonderful in its majesty of engineering Monument,
is untouchable, unapproachable.
Its perfection releases  memory waves loaded with pain.
Maybe it’s not even pain but rather a feeling of apprehension,
of bad omen and of  unexplained mystery: why is the dam is still there,
proud and stifling, offering itself to an imaginary audience?
Today the Vajont valley appears quiet, still,
safe,  but it isn’t, actually, because mount Toc moves
and maybe the only thing
keeping it steady is the dam itself,
which now, paradoxically, doubles as a pivot
between the mountain and the valley.
I don’t feel worthy of relating myself with this gorgeous structure wet with tragedy
to enhance  it, I don’t want to touch it.
I moved my point of view.
I want to anchor  myself to the concrete and move the dam.
The idea is to create a huge mirror with the Dam.
Covering the Dam’s walls with mirror on both sides,
it will be possible to witness the disappearance of the Monument.
The enormous mirror will reflect the surrounding landscape,
This covering will be a new skin layer
made of photovoltaic panels;
It will change the identity of the dam,
and at the same time it will be a source of energy for the valley.

Questa immensa superficie di cemento armato,
meravigliosa nella sua maestosità di Monumento ingegneristico,
è intoccabile, inavvicinabile.
La sua perfezione emette onde di memoria cariche di dolore.
Forse non è neanche dolore ma una sensazione d’ inquietudine,
di cattivo presagio e di inspiegabile mistero del perché la Diga sia ancora lì,
fiera e greve che si offre agli spettatori.
Oggi la valle del Vajont sembra tranquilla, ferma,
sicura, ma in realtà non lo è perché il vicino monte Toc si muove
e forse l’unica cosa
che lo mantiene stabile è la Diga stessa,
che funge ora, paradossalmente, da perno
tra i monti e le valli.
Non mi sento di rapportarmi con questa splendida struttura bagnata di tragedia
per valorizzarla, non voglio toccarla.
Ho spostato il mio punto di vista.
Voglio ancorarmi al cemento e spostare la Diga.
L’ idea è quella di creare un’ immenso specchio con la diga.
Rivestendo le pareti di specchi, in entrambi i versanti,
sarà possibile assistere alla sparizione del Monumento.
L’immenso specchio rifletterà il paesaggio circostante creando nuovi scenari.
Questo rivestimento sarà un nuovo strato di epidermide
fatto di pannelli fotovoltaici;
cambierà l’identità della Diga e allo stesso tempo sarà fonte di energia per la valle.
